STEP UP PROGRAMME:

STEP IN

Step in is a fund we have to help new tenants step in to independent living

We provide starter packs for our young people to make sure they have the basics that they need to look after themselves in the early days of a tenancy.

Step in packs include new bedding, new cutlery, new crockery, cooking utensils, basic food, towels, cleaning items, toiletries and a laundry basket.

Some of our tenants move in with little more than the clothes on their back and with benefit payments taking a few weeks to come through, Step In packs mean there’s no delay in developing life skills. It also gives tenants pride in their homes and in themselves as they have everything they need from day 1.

STEP UP

The step up programme rewards tenants for taking part in YMCA activities and opportunities and for ‘stepping up’ to being a good tenant and neighbour.

It is a points based system where tenants earn points and then use these points to claim rewards.

Staff and managers can give rewards for exceptional effort and for securing and maintaining training or employment.

Tenants can also receive points for looking after their property for a prolonged period of time.

Rewards include gift vouchers, money towards driving lessons, money towards furniture for move on, luxury toiletry packs or cleaning items

STEP OUT

Step out is a fund tenants can access if they need help with clothing, transport or equipment for work, education, a hobby or a special event.

We provide whatever our tenants need to step out in the wider world or be a part of the local community.

So far this year Step Out has paid for Youth Ambassador traning, a hospital bag for a mum-to-be, three UCAS applications, a deposit for university halls, a travel and tourism student uniform and a full equipment kit for a catering student at Telford College.
